Purpose

The aim of the CPD course syllabus is to train physicians, surgeons, and civilian and military healthcare personnel capable of addressing all emergencies related to wartime events, natural disasters, road accidents, and workplace injuries. The CPD course syllabus aims to provide participants with advanced training to assist the injured at the scene of trauma, make an initial diagnosis, and implement initial emergency treatments before organizing the transportation of the traumatized individual to the first aid hospital. During the CPD course syllabus, the aspect of transferring the patient to internationally specialized centers will also be addressed from an organizational, clinical, and forensic medical perspective.

The CPD course syllabus involves a multidisciplinary didactic approach that includes aspects of resuscitation, medical, infectious disease, orthopedic, and surgical care. Additionally, some organizational aspects related to the nursing management of the traumatized patient, the organization of an intensive care unit, inpatient ward, and trauma operating room will also be considered.

Modality

The lessons will be delivered in e-learning mode; learners will have access to educational materials, bibliography, and online videos. The lessons, in particular, will be pre-recorded so that they can remain available to the student for viewing and reviewing whenever necessary. At the end of each teaching session, the CPD course syllabus includes an online discussion with the instructor to delve deeper into the topics covered and an online assessment that allows progression to the next teaching session.

Some educational activities may be conducted live online from operating rooms and departments of certain Italian hospitals. At the end of the Master’s program, for students residing in Libya, there will be a week of practical lessons conducted in Libya by a representative of the Master’s faculty, with a final exam also held in the North African country. For students residing in other countries, the final exam will be conducted online instead.

University educational credits (CFU) are earned by passing the final examination, which serves as an assessment of the skills acquired during the lessons, and by completing and defending a thesis.

The CPD course syllabus will be activated upon reaching a minimum of 40 enrollees.
